Fuel Cell and Fuel Reformer Burners

PCI has developed and manufactured several different burners for fuel cell and fuel reformer companies.  Burner types include:

  • Anode gas burner
  • Reformer start burner
  • System inerting burner

Anode

Fuel Cell Burner

Fuel Cell Burner

The anode gas burner burns the hydrogen rich gas from the anode portion of a fuel cell.  Our burner has also been demonstrated to oxidize up to 60% of the methane in the feed stream as well.  Our reformer start burner is used to initiate the reforming process and can be integrated with our anode gas burner.  The system inerting burner inerts a fuel cell system before start-up by oxidizing residual hydrogen and filling the system with inert gases addressing safety concerns during start-up of fuel cell systems.

Additional Information can be obtained from the following published paper:

"IV.C.2 Multi-Fuel Processor for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Applications", DOE Hydrogen, Fuel Cells, and Infrastructure Technologies, FY 2002 Progress Report

All fuel cell burners are customized to optimize performance within the fuel reformer/fuel cell system.   Contact PCI to learn more about how our solutions may be adapted for your needs.
