PCI Wins
Dawnbreaker Outstanding Commercialization Award
NORTH HAVEN, CT (February 21, 2007) -- Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI)
announced today it has been selected as a DOE SBIR Commercialization
Assistance Program success story and awarded an Outstanding
Commercialization Achievement Award by Dawnbreaker, Inc., which developed
and operates the DOE Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP). Stories on
PCI and seven other SBIR CAP program participants were included in
Dawnbreaker’s DOE Profiles in Success publication. View the article

The award related to PCI’s commercialization activities for its ultra-low
emissions clean and efficient catalytic combustors for power generation gas
turbines. PCI is now the world leader in gas turbine catalytic combustor
technology, and is in the process of spinning the technology out to downhole
steam generation for heavy oil production.
According to PCI President Kevin Burns, “The CAP program helped us decide
how to market our technology and gave us a better appreciation for how to
best leverage our world-class reactor design and system skills for future
product development.” PCI broadened its support base, reset its
manufacturing strategy and developed an external component supply
infrastructure, now one of their strengths. They also developed a spinoff
technology: a downhole catalytic combustor steam generator for heavy oil
production, which itself won an SBIR Phase I/II award and is drawing
significant interest from the oil industry.
