North Haven, CT (August 31, 2022)  - Highlighting the recent Inflation Reduction Act and its effect on families, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) visited Precision Combustion, Inc. (PCI) on Friday, August 26th. She reviewed new PCI technologies for clean and more efficient energy and for addressing climate change.

Delauro visit

 Specific technologies she reviewed included:

  • New smaller and higher efficiency fuel cell systems able to use conventional fuels and biofuels as well as carbon neutral fuels. Applications are for higher efficiency electric vehicles that can be refueled at conventional gas stations and all-electric aircraft that would have higher efficiency while also substantially reducing CO2 emissions. The technology will also be applicable to new home and neighborhood distributed fuel cell power systems that could substantially reduce home energy costs for electricity, heat and cooling while reducing CO2 emissions. People would see this in lower home electricity and fuel bills.
  • PCI nanostructured sorbent CO2 capture technologies offer energy savings and lower costs for both combustion exhaust and direct air capture. These will help mitigate climate change.
  • DeLauro also reviewed PCI’s developing technology for mine ventilation air methane oxidation, supported by DOE ARPA-E. Methane emissions have a disproportionate effect on climate change, and mine methane produces nine percent of world methane emissions.

In an address to PCI’s employees, Congresswoman DeLauro spoke of the importance of technology to meeting our nation’s challenges, and also of its importance in lowering the costs faced by hard-working families across Connecticut. She congratulated PCI employees on their good work, remarking on PCI’s many long term employees as well as the newer employees including from internship programs embarking on good STEM careers.

PCI Vice President of Research and Engineering Subir Roychoudhury commented, “Our innovative technology solutions are getting more attention, and our team is advancing those technologies to products. Our fuel cell systems will deliver cleaner air and lower energy costs for families, and our carbon capture technologies offer major advances to help slow and ultimately reverse climate change.  We welcome the Inflation Reduction Act, which will encourage the use of energy-saving and carbon capture products, and help to transform our economy for the future.”

PCI President Kevin Burns said, “Rosa has always been a friend of new technology development and its impact on America’s industrial strength, global competitiveness and the high quality jobs we can have in Connecticut. We’re honored to be able to welcome her and have the chance to show her more of what we are doing right here in Connecticut, which is a great place to build and grow a thriving technology business.”
